Protecting Your Gear From Weather

The weather is getting nicer, it’s time to get out there if you are not already. Tamrac’s series of Evolution bags make it easy to get outside with a comfortable, easy to access, and built to be used camera bag. You can easily switch from backpack to one shoulder sling bag. With durable metal clips and rain covers on some models, it can help you get some of even the most extreme photo excursions. Check out this video tour of this clever design:

As the rainy weather continues make sure you know your camera’s weather rating. Most cameras cannot take much, if any moisture. Some are completely waterproof, while others have a 10 minute light rain designation. One thing to be aware of is the battery compartment. In general, cameras are not sealed down there, so you want to be cautious just in case you get some rain dripping down. If you are unsure about your SLR’s weather sealing, or are ultra paranoid, these OP/TECH Rainsleeves can be just the answer.

They are a lot like a sandwich bag, but have an angled seam that matches your hand and arm position when holding the camera. They also have a drawstring to secure to the front of your lens barrel (or lens hood). There is a little hole punched out that you can put your eyecup through so you don’t have to try to look through the bag material when composing. It’s really pretty ingenious, and they are really inexpensive!

Be sure to be safe and keep shooting.

Awesome deal on Canon PowerShot A490 Factory Refurbs! Under $50!!!

Hey guys, we have a super smoking deal on a bunch of Powershot A490s we got from Canon. You can pick up one of these bad boys for UNDER $50. Never thought I would see the day when I could say that about a Canon Digital Camera! The A490 is a 10MP rig with a 3.3X optical zoom lens. It has a 2.5 inch LCD, Smart Auto mode and has the convenience of using just AA batteries.

Okay, so what’s the catch, right? No catch really, they just cannot be sold as brand spanking new. These refurbished cameras come to us straight from Canon. At some point in their life, they may have been out in the world. A few of them have a replacement part and many were simply returned by customers that may have received it as a gift or something when they already had a camera. Whatever the reason, they have all been checked out by Canon, and have a 90 day Canon USA warranty to help you sleep better at night.

The packaging is a little different, the printed image of the camera is not on the box, whatever! Inside you still get the quick start guide, interface cables for TVs and computers, wrist strap, software and a set of batteries per normal.

So if you are looking for an inexpensive, quality digital camera, grab yours here before they are all gone!

cheers,

Paul
