Use without the cover as a shoot-thru or reflective-style umbrella . . . the satin white fabric works well for either method. For greater control of the light when used as a reflective light source, slip on the black cover. It blocks light so there's less illumination scattered throughout the studio, and the cover minimizes the chance of lens flare.
